Brother Charles
From early childhood my parents instilled in me the importance of caring for others by doing the corporal works of mercy. This was reaffirmed for me during my formative years as a student at St. Dominic’s School, Philadelphia, PA where the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary were my teachers.
In 1977, I joined the Knights of Columbus. One of my many activities was accompanying high school CYO students on Vocation Awareness trips. One such venture took us to St. John’s Hospice, a shelter for homeless people staffed by the Brothers of the Good Shepherd. This experience had a tremendous impact on me. I continued to return to the St. John’s as a volunteer for several years.
I believe that God worked through the influence of my family, the Sisters and my Brother Knights to bring me to the fullness of my vocation. In August of 2000 I made my first profession of vows as a Brother of the Good Shepherd and my final profession in October 2003.
Having served in BGS ministries in Toronto and Miami, I currently serve as the Director of Development at Good Shepherd Center, Albuquerque, NM. This involves planning and overseeing the daily operations of our homeless center.
Being a Brother of the Good Shepherd allows me the freedom to be available to assist and counsel our homeless clients.
