Greetings from the Development Office

Dear Friends,

On June 23, 2008 the Little Brothers of the Good Shepherd officially opened the Ministry of Development Office in Momence, IL. This venture was to broaden awareness of, and gain additional resources to further the mission, vision and ministries of our congregation. Through the Ministry of Development we invite others to be a part of, learn from, and share in our mission – a mission that affirms the worth, dignity, and value of each person – a mission that daily speaks to our message that individuals matter – a mission that continues to reflect the Gospel mandate to love as Jesus loves, especially to the most vulnerable and marginalized of society.

For almost sixty years Brothers have offered their special gifts in community in loving service to others. Our mission mandates that each Brother stand always ready to give: sickness, age, or over-taxed schedules has never been an excuse to free us from the apostolic work for which we’ve been called. What little we had to give we gave to others. The rest we entrusted to God.

You can support the Little Brothers of the Good Shepherd through the Ministry of Development Office. We extend to you an invitation to partner with us in sharing the Gospel mission of our community. By your prayerful and financial support you join us in sharing the charism of our congregation as lived through our motto: Charity Unlimited – Never Stop Loving.

Gratefully and Fraternally in the Good Shepherd,

Since our humble, uncertain founding days of 1951, the very evident needs of suffering society determined the ministry activities of our congregation. Initially, the brothers’ ministry was the care of the transient poor. Soon after, we began to expand the scope of our work to include the care of the mentally challenged and the elderly.

Our Founder Brother Mathias Barrett desired the brothers to serve not only in specific ministries, but also to the new and challenging needs of these times. It is the spirit of Mathias Barrett’s “Charity Unlimited – Never Stop Loving” that the brothers now serve in a wide variety of ministries within the caring mission of the Church.

Through our prayer and ministry we strive to model our lives after the heart of Jesus, the Good Shepherd, who left the 99 to respond to the one in special need. There is much work to do. We don’t mind the work, we never have, but the delivery of our services can continue only if you journey with us by supporting our vision and mission.

We ask each of you to pray for the needs of our community, the special intentions of our brothers, the needs of those entrusted to our care and for an increase of vocations.

Remembering the Little Brothers of the Good Shepherd in your will offers an opportunity to make a substantial contribution that ensures the services we offer to the poor, the needy and the disabled will be available for many generations without drawing on your resources.

You may name The Little Brothers of the Good Shepherd as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy, a retirement fund, IRA, a savings account or a Certificate of Deposit.

These gifts can be used immediately and provide a tax savings to you.
